Terms & Conditions


            eBookquet Network Limited, (hereafter referred to as “eBookquet Network, eBookquet, We, Our, Us, or Platform”) eBookquet Network Limited (“eBookquet Network”) sets out these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) to govern the relationship and policies between eBookquet Network, its “Users” (including Authors, Readers, Visitors, and Third-party Service Providers), and any usage of its infrastructure and services. These Terms and Conditions, as well as the usage of other eBookquet Network Limited Policies (Data Privacy and Intellectual Property Rights Policies), are collectively and hereafter, referred to as the “Terms” of eBookquet Networks Limited. 

            These Terms apply to the use of eBookquet Network web and mobile applications, products, and services, as well as third-party services where necessary, including but not limited to content ownership, copyrights, patents, privacy, and other intellectual property rights. All users are subject to these Terms and the regular rule update published by eBookquet for the running of eBookquet Network applications. 

            eBookquet Network reserves the right to cancel or amend all or any part of the Terms without prior notice. Any changes to the Terms will be posted on the eBookquet website or via newsletter. eBookquet is not liable for copyright infringement or intellectual or data breach outside these Terms.

            By using eBookquet Network applications and services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Terms, and agreed to be bound by the Terms governing the use of eBookquet Network which herein referred to as “Contract Agreement”.

1 – Account Policy

To use eBookquet Network and its services, you may need to create an account and sign in with the credentials to access your account and the services.
  • i. Account Registration
    To register an account, you must provide your first name, last name, date of birth, location, a valid email address, and a secure alphanumeric password. You will receive a confirmation email to authenticate your account.
  • ii. Account Credentials
    To sign into your account, you need your email address as your username and a password to access the account. Signing into your account enables personalization and consistent experience with eBookquet Network services and other users. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at info@ebookquet.com if you suspect any unauthorized access or use.

Account Type

eBookquet has two types of accounts to cater to user needs and better experience.
  • i. Reader Account
    This is the account user can access content and other services on eBookquet Network applications. Registration requires first name, last name, date of birth, any government issued identification document, location, a valid email address, and a secure alphanumeric password.
  • ii. Author Account
    This is an account where verified content owners or merchants upload their content and set prices in the Knowledge Networking Marketplace. Registration requires first name, last name, date of birth, location, a valid email address, a secure alphanumeric password, and submission of a government-issued ID for KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. Users must provide accurate, truthful, and verifiable information.
  • iii. BookHut Account
    A free-tier user account that grants access to basic features. Some content or features may require payment.
  • iv. Usage Limitations
    • a. Free accounts may have limitations on storage, usage, or access to certain features.
    • b. These limitations are subject to change.
  • v. Bookquet Account
    Premium accounts have access to advanced and personalized features, in-app services, better user experience, deeper engagement, and control. Therefore, we do not display, place, or allow any third-party ads on any premium accounts.
    • a. Resources: Bookquet services and the data generated using those services by any user are collectively referred to as “Resources”. Resources, include Huttalk, Insight, Rock, and content, such as books, courses, publications, videos, etc.
    • b. Access: Users can follow a Bookquet and use the resources in the Bookquet. However, the Bookquet has the right to set how, when, and who can use the Bookquet Resources.
    • c. Data Use: Data such as Postcard, Notecard, ActiveVocabs, and Insights amongst others generated from using Bookquet resources by its followers are stored and used by Bookquet Network. By using Bookquet resources, users consent to the storing and use of their data-generated content from using the Bookquet resources.

Age Authorization

Our services are open to any potential user who can create an account and use eBookquet Network services. However, you must be within the “Consent Age Limit” allowed by law in your jurisdiction to enter into any contract agreements and/or exercise adult rights.

Underage Users

Any person who is under the “Consent Age Limit” is considered as underaged depending on the laws in the country of residence, and it’s considered a dependant. Such individuals may only use eBookquet Network services under the following conditions:
  • • A parent or legal guardian (referred to as a custodian) must provide consent.
  • • The custodian must actively moderate and supervise the underage user's activity on the platform.
By accepting responsibility as a custodian, you:
  • • Enter into this Contract Agreement on behalf of the underage user.
  • • Agree to be fully liable for any violations of these Terms committed by the underage user.
  • • Warrant that the underage user will use the platform only in accordance with the Terms and with your supervision.
eBookquet Network does not knowingly collect more data from underage users than is required to deliver our services.

Adult Users and Custodians

All adult users and custodians must:
  • • Provide complete, accurate, and truthful information when creating an account or using the platform.
  • • Ensure the confidentiality of their account credentials, access, and content.
  • • Take full responsibility for any activities carried out through their account.
  • • Immediately report any suspicious or unauthorized activity to support@ebookquet.com.

Username and Identity Policy

eBookquet Network is not liable for usernames that may infringe on trademarks, copyrights, or other legal rights. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion and without liability, to:
  • • Block or ban accounts that violate these Terms.
  • • Remove or restrict usernames that are offensive, misleading, or cause reputational harm to eBookquet Network, its users, or third parties.

Age and Authority Acknowledgement

By using the eBookquet Network platform, you confirm that:
  • • You are within the Consent Age Limit in your country of residence and have the legal capacity to enter into this Agreement, or
  • • You are a custodian who is within the Consent Age Limit and has provided consent for an underage user, accepting full responsibility under these Terms.

Know Your Customer

eBookquet Network Know Your Customer (KYC) policy ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and prevents illicit activities, including identity prevention, KYC regulatory compliance, fraud prevention, and enhanced security on its applications.
  • i. User Responsibilities
    • a. Accurate information: Users must provide accurate, truthful, and verifiable information. Any misrepresentation of information or breach of the KYC policy may result in account suspension or termination.
    • b. Cooperation: Users must cooperate with KYC procedures and policies.
  • ii. Limitation of Liability
    • a. Good faith: eBookquet Network will regularly make good faith efforts to verify users’ identities to prevent illicit activities on their applications.
    • No Guarantee: eBookquet Network cannot guarantee the absolute accuracy or effectiveness of any verifications as we rely on third-party information for the verification processes.
  • iii. Liability
    • a. Not Liable: eBookquet Network is not liable for damages resulting from:
      • 1. Inaccurate user information.
      • 2. Failure to prevent fraud or illicit activities.
  • iv. Indemnification
    • a. User Indemnification: Users indemnify eBookquet against claims arising from:
      • 1. Breach of KYC policy.
      • 2. Misrepresentation in any form.
  • v. Updates and Reviews
    • a. Periodic Reviews: eBookquet Network will regularly review and update KYC information.
    • b. Updates: eBookquet Network reserves the right to update and/or make changes to reflect regulatory requirements without prior notice to users. The updated policy takes effect immediately upon implementation. Users are required to regularly check policies for updates.

Data Protection Compliance

eBookquet Network prioritizes the protection of your Personal Information, adhering to global best practices. Our Data Privacy Protection Policy outlines how we use and safeguard your data. eBookquet Network may collect, store, or different types of data and/or information as needed to deliver and enhance our services. eBookquet Network is committed to transparent and proper handling of your personal within the relevant laws and regulations. By using our services, you consent to providing this information. Learn more in our Data Privacy Policy. Users have certain rights under Data Protection Laws related to the information we collect. Our Privacy Policy and your Data Rights are compliant with the relevant requirements of each of the following Laws and Regulations:
  • NDPA: Nigeria Data Protection Act.
  • DPA (GDPR UK): Data Protection Act
  • GDPR: General Data Protection Regulation
  • CCPA: California Consumer Privacy Act
  • COPPA: US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act
eBookquet Network takes personal data security seriously and retains your data as required by applicable laws, regulations, and Data Protection Laws in relevant jurisdictions.

2 – Conduct Policy

This Conduct Policy outlines the standards of behavior expected from all users and visitors of the eBookquet Network, including its web and mobile applications. eBookquet Network is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all users and visitors. To uphold this commitment, all users must conduct themselves in accordance with applicable laws and community standards while using our services.

General Expectations

Users and visitors must:
  • • Treat others with respect, courtesy, and professionalism at all times.
  • • Refrain from any form of harassment, discrimination, hate speech, threats, or abusive behavior.
  • • Comply with all relevant local, state, federal, and international laws, including but not limited to laws regarding online conduct, content usage, intellectual property, and data privacy.
  • • Avoid any activity that could harm the platform, its users, or third-party services integrated with eBookquet Network.

Consequences of Misconduct

Violations of this Conduct Policy may result in any of the following actions, at the sole discretion of eBookquet Network:
  • • Warning or formal notice
  • • Temporary suspension of access to the platform
  • • Permanent account ban
  • • Reporting to legal authorities for prosecution, where applicable under local or international laws
eBookquet Network reserves the right to take immediate and appropriate action without prior notice in response to any behavior that threatens the safety, integrity, or reputation of the platform or its users.

Expected Behaviour

Violations of this Conduct Policy may result in any of the following actions, at the sole discretion of eBookquet Network:
  • i. Respect Others
    Users are required to treat others with kindness, consideration, and respect. eBookquet Network does not support or accept harassment, bullying, or discriminatory behaviour in any form or intent.
  • ii. Content Guidelines
    Users are expected to share content that is appropriate with other users and within eBookquet Network policy. No explicit, offensive, or harmful content is allowed.
  • iii. Intellectual Property
    Users are required to respect the intellectual property rights of authors, creators, and other users. No copyright infringement or plagiarism is allowed and/or tolerated.
  • iv. No Spam or Self-Promotion
    Posting unsolicited or repetitive content and excessive or unsolicited promotions are prohibited, including but not limited to:
    • a. Irrelevant links or images
    • b. Repetitive messages or comments
    • c. Unwanted advertisements
    • d. Personal projects, or websites
    • e. Products or services
    • f. Affiliate links or referrals
    However, self-promotion may be allowed if it is clearly labeled as promotional, relevant, and not excessive.
  • v. Honest and Accurate Information
    Users are required to provide accurate and truthful information about themselves. eBookquet Network prohibits false and any misrepresentation of information. Violation of this policy could lead to content removal, account restrictions, or suspension.

Prohibited Activities

  • i. Illegal Content
      Sharing or promoting content that is illegal including but not limited to:
      • a. Child exploitation
      • b. Hate speech
      • c. Terrorism
      • d. Piracy or copyright infringement
  • ii. Fraud and Scams
      Engaging in or promoting fraudulent activities, including but not limited to:
      • a. Phishing
      • b. Identity theft
      • c. Financial scams
      • d. Piracy or copyright infringement
  • iii. Harassment and Cyberbullying
    Engaging in behaviour that harasses or threatens other users.
  • iv. Inappropriate Content
    Engaging or sharing explicit, graphic, or disturbing content.
  • iv. Inappropriate Content
    Engaging or sharing explicit, graphic, or disturbing content.
  • v. Data Mining
    Unauthorized extraction or collection of data, including but not limited to:
    • a. Scraping
    • b. Crawling
    • c. Spiders
  • vi. Bots and Automation
    Using unauthorized automated software or script to:
    • a. Access or manipulate data
    • b. Create accounts
    • c. Maintenance
  • viii. Account Termination
    eBookquet is committed to providing a safe and lawful environment for all users and visitors. Engaging in illegal activities may result in account suspension or termination.
    • a. Grounds for Account Termination: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate a user’s account for any of the following reasons, with or without notice:
      • 1. Violation of Terms: Breaching our Terms of Service / Community Guidelines
      • 2. Illegal Activity: Engaging in or promoting unlawful conduct through the eBookquet Network
      • 3. Fraud or Misrepresentation: Providing false information during registration or while using eBookquet Network
      • 4. Abuse or Misuse: Misuse of features, harassment of other users, or disruptive behavior
      • 5. Inactivity: Prolonged periods of account inactivity, subject to our discretion.
      • 6. Security Risk: Compromising the security or integrity of the App or other user accounts
    • b. Procedure for account termination
      • 1. Notice: In most cases, we will provide advance notice via email regarding violations, unless the offense warrants immediate termination
      • 2. Investigation: We may temporarily suspend the account during an investigation
      • 3. Appeals: Users may contact us to dispute termination within 14 days of notification
    • c. Effects of Termination
      • 1. Access to the App and associated data may be permanently lost
      • 2. We may retain certain information for legal, security, or operational purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy
      • 3. Terminated users are prohibited from re-registering without prior approval
    • d. Voluntary Account Deletion
      Users may request deletion of their account at any time through the Application settings or by contacting us directly. Upon deletion, user data will be removed in accordance with our Data Retention Policy.
    • e. Legal Action
      eBookquet Network reserves the right to pursue legal action against individuals or entities engaging in illegal activities on eBookquet Network, including data mining.

3 – Payment Policy

eBookquet Network uses third-party payment providers to facilitate all transactions on its platform, including payments for products, services, and subscriptions. As a result, eBookquet Network does not collect, access, or store any payment-related personal information, such as credit card numbers, banking details, or billing information, provided by users during transactions. All such sensitive data is securely handled by the respective third-party payment providers. We strongly encourage users to:
  • • Review the privacy policies and terms of service of the third-party payment provider used during the transaction.
  • • Understand how their personal and financial data is collected, processed, and protected by those providers.
By making a payment on eBookquet Network, you agree to the terms and conditions of the payment provider facilitating your transaction. eBookquet Network is not liable for any issues, breaches, or disputes arising from your use of third-party payment services. Any concerns related to payment processing should be directed to the relevant provider.

Third-party Services

eBookquet Network uses third-party services, such as cloud services, SSL certificates, books, publications, courses, content, payment providers, and audio-video services (collectively, third-party services) to create seamless experiences for its users. Each of these service providers has its privacy policies which apply to eBookquet Network third-party services.

Terms of Service

eBookquet Network has paid services, including digital content acquisition, pay-per-use, and in-app subscription services. By paying for these services, you agree to the following terms:
  • i. Pay-per-use
    • a. Usage: This is a content-rental payment model where users pay to have access to content, including e-books, courses, publications, and audio-video services.
    • b. Duration: Users have the right to decide their payment duration to have access to the content. Once the duration expires, the user will not have access to the content except user extends the duration, or plans for a convenient time by paying for the access.
  • ii. Acquisition
    • a. Usage: This is a purchase model for access to content, including e-books, courses, and publications.
    • b. Duration: Once a user pays for content the user will have unrestricted access to the content.
  • iii. Subscription terms
    • a. Usage: This is used for content, Bookquet plans, and audio-video services.
    • b. Duration: The are monthly or annual subscriptions depending on users’ preference. There is a discount for an annual subscription. eBookquet Network has the sole right to determine subscription discounts.
    • c. Auto-Renewal: Subscription billings are set on auto-renewal based on the last subscription plan a user chose. Users have the option to turn on and off the auto-renewal permission. This permission is set on “Auto-renewal by default. Therefore, it is the responsibility of users to set the auto-renewal permission before their subscription expires.
  • iv. Payment and Billing Methods
    • a. Payment Service Provider: eBookquet Network currently uses Paystack as a payment gateway for its paid services. Note that eBookquet Network reserves the right to change to any payment gateway that it deems convenient and mutually beneficial to all parties.
    • b. Wallet: In addition to the direct payment from the payment service provider, eBookquet Network also uses digital wallets as a complementary payment gateway for its convenience, ease of use, and enhanced security. A digital wallet is a software-based system that securely stores users’ payment information and enables them to make payments for book rental, sales, Huttalk, Bookquet, and in-app features subscriptions.

      Personal information is not stored on eBookquet Network when you use payment providers to make payments for eBookquet Network products and services. When you link your wallet to your payment provider’s platform, the payment provider gives eBookquet Network a token that represents your payment information. The token is stored securely in your wallet in an encrypted format. The token increases data security, convenience, and streamlines payment processes.
    • c. Billing Cycle: The billing cycles are monthly or annual, depending on the billing cycle a user chooses when buying a subscription.
    • d. Payment Disputes: eBookquet Network does not store, or have access to transaction information in the payment provider’s platform, therefore eBookquet Network cannot resolve payment disputes with users. Kindly contact your payment providers and/or intermediary banks for any payment resolution.
  • v. Payment Service Information
    eBookquet Network doesn’t process payments from users and instead relies on different payment providers around the world. Therefore, eBookquet Network and merchants do not store your payment card details or have access to the information. Kindly read the payment provider’s terms of use at https://paystack.com/terms before making your data available to them.
  • vi. Payment Card Information
    When making a purchase, you enter your payment card details into a form supplied by the payment service provider, and this information goes directly to the payment provider’s server. eBookquet Network does not store your payment card information. The payment service provider gives eBookquet Network an encrypted token in place of the card information you use for payments. eBookquet Network cannot reconstruct your payment card information from the token.
  • vii. Payment Service Provider Responsibilities
    • a. Data Security and Protection: Securely handle sensitive customer information and implement measures to prevent unauthorized transactions.
    • b. Transparency and Communication: Clearly disclose fees, and provide clear and concise terms and conditions. Keep customers informed about transaction status.
    • c. Reliability and Efficiency: Ensure high uptime, minimal downtime, and a seamless payment experience, payment systems are available and functioning properly.
    • d. Customer Support: Provide reliable assistance and support to customers promptly.
    • e. Compliance: Comply with relevant laws and regulations (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, AML/KYC), and adhere to industry standards and best practices.
    • f. Dispute Resolution: Have clear processes for resolving disputes for customer complaints.
  • viii. Limitation of Liability
    Below are the limitations of liability for direct and indirect damages arising from third-party services provided by independent entities. Our third-party services include, but not limited to, content, e-books, publications, courses, servers, data protection services, and audio-video services.
    • a. No Warranty: eBookquet Network does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free third-party services.
    • b. No Liability: eBookquet Network is not liable for damages resulting from third-party services, including but not limited to:
      • (i) Data loss or corruption
      • (ii) Service interruptions
      • (iii) Security breaches
  • ix. Third-party Service Disclaimer
    eBookquet Network uses services to enhance user experience.
    • a. As-Is: eBookquet Network third-party services are provided “as-is” in their current state, and we do not promise or guarantee their condition, quality, and performance.
    • b. As-Available: The services are provided on an availability basis without guarantees of uptime, accessibility, or uninterrupted services.
  • x. Pricing Policy
    eBookquet Network operates a cost-plus pricing model for third-party content. Therefore, content owners and right holders are expected to factor commission (Percentage-based) into their price point (Royalties) when setting prices for their content, excluding charges that may arise from the payment service providers. Percentage-Based Commission: eBookquet Network takes the following commissions on book usage:
    • • Book Rental: 25% commission for each book rental
    • • Book Purchase (Buy): 30% commission for each book purchase
  • xi. Pricing Revision
    • a. Third-party Service Provider: Service owners and right holders have the right to fix and/or change prices without prior notice to users. However, any change in prices will not affect running subscriptions until the expiration of the subscription. A continuous use of the services by users after the change becomes effective implies their acceptance of the price change.l
    • b. eBookquet Network: eBookquet Network has the right to fix and/or change prices for service charges and in-app services without prior notice to users. However, any change in prices will not affect running subscriptions until the expiration of the subscription. A continuous use of the services by users after the change becomes effective implies their acceptance of the price change.
  • xii. Cancellation Policy
    There is no cancellation or refund for payment. Users are expected to check and evaluate their decisions before making payments. Note that if you cancel or switch to a lower plan of a recurring service for Bookquet or Huttalk, you and your community will not have access to the Bookquet and/or the features and products of your previous plan.
  • xiii. Refund Policy
    When content is taken down for violating eBookquet Network Policy, and there are running subscriptions, the subscribers will receive vouchers covering ONLY the time the content was taken down to the end of the subscription. The subscribers can use the vouchers to subscribe book of their choice. If content was purchased (“Buy”), and it was found to have violated the eBookquet Network Policy, the user will get 50% cost of the content as a voucher if the content was purchased within 6 months, and 30% cost of the content as a voucher if the content was purchased after 6 months. eBookquet Network does NOT refund payment for subscriptions when content is taken down. Vouchers are substituted for the time left for the subscription period.
  • xiv. Royalty Payment Terms
    eBookquet Network pays royalty to content owners and/or right holders 30 days after the payment receipt from the content users. If content was purchased (“Buy”), and it was found to have violated the eBookquet Network Policy, the user will get 50% cost of the content as a voucher if the content was purchased within 6 months, and 30% cost of the content as a voucher if the content was purchased after 6 months. eBookquet Network does NOT refund payment for subscriptions when content is taken down. Vouchers are substituted for the time left for the subscription period.
  • xv. Payment Currency and Exchange Rates
    eBookquet Network payment currencies are the Nigerian Naira and United States Dollars. The decision of which currency a content owner will be paid is based on the content owner’s location and/or at the discretion of eBookquet Network. The exchange rate for payment will be based on the official rates of the Central Bank of Nigeria or the spot rate at the time of the receipt of payment from the content user.

4 – Content and Access Policy

eBookquet Network provides access to a wide range of services, including but not limited to e-books, print books, courses, publications, and audio-video materials. All such materials owned or provided by third parties are collectively referred to as “Content.”
    I. Hosting and Sharing of Content
    Users may host or share Content on the eBookquet Network platform, provided that:
  • a. The Content complies with these Terms and Conditions, and
  • b. The Content adheres to the laws and regulations governing digital platforms and online content sharing applicable in the user’s country of residence.
Users are solely responsible for all Content they upload, host, or share. This includes ensuring the legality, appropriateness, accuracy, and reliability of such Content. By hosting or sharing Content on eBookquet Network, you confirm that:
  • a. You own the intellectual property rights or have the appropriate licenses to the Content.
  • b. You have the legal authority to grant eBookquet Network a license to use the Content in accordance with these Terms.
  • c. Your Content does not infringe upon any rights of others, including but not limited to copyrights, trademarks, patents, privacy rights, publicity rights, or any other intellectual property rights, whether tangible or intangible.
    II. User Rights and eBookquet Network License
  • a. Users retain full ownership of the Content they upload to the eBookquet Network platform. It is your responsibility to protect and enforce your rights to your Content.
  • b. By uploading or sharing Content, you grant eBookquet Network a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, host, store, reproduce, publicly display, distribute, and share your Content with other users, strictly in accordance with these Terms.
    III. Platform Moderation Rights
  • a. By hosting Content on the platform, you acknowledge and agree that:
eBookquet Network has the right, but not the obligation, to moderate, review, or remove any Content at its sole discretion, particularly if such Content is found to violate these Terms or any applicable law. eBookquet Network assumes no liability or responsibility for any Content that is hosted or shared by users, nor does it guarantee the accuracy, integrity, or quality of such Content.
    i. Premium Content
    Content on eBookquet Network Application is sold on as-is basis without warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied. Refunds and payment terms are subject to our purchase agreement policies.
    ii. Content Availability
    Content owners and rights holders have the authority to set pricing and control the availability of their content, except in cases where such control conflicts with:
    • • Users’ paid subscription or acquisition rights,
    • • Copyright infringement concerns, or
    • • Technical issues beyond eBookquet Network’s control.
  • a. Content Access: Can access content such as e-books, courses, publications, and other materials by creating and logging into their accounts. Users may choose from available payment plans to access paid content or access free content directly.
  • b. User Right: Users’ access rights to the content are governed by the specific terms of access tied to each content item, as well as by eBookquet Network’s overall content access terms and conditions. Access may be restricted if the content violates copyright policies or if technical issues arise that are outside eBookquet Network’s control.
    iii. Content Responsibility
    The content and other materials available on eBookquet Network Application, both free and premium, are uploaded by various content owners and contributors. We do not promise, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of the content provided. Therefore, content users are advised to verify any information independently before placing reliance on it.
    iv. Educational Purpose
    The content and materials provided are strictly for educational and informational purposes and shall be so strictly construed. They do not constitute professional advice of any kind (e.g., legal, medical, financial).
    v. Limitation of Liability:
    eBookquet Network and its administrators shall not be held liable for any errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in the content or for any damage or damages arising from the use of the content and/or third-party services provided.
5 – Analytics and Moderation Policy eBookquet Network may use in-application or third-party services to track, monitor, analyse, and report its website traffic, engagement, and user behavior. This will help eBookquet Network continuously improve user experience, and regulate online activities.
